Starting orthodontic treatment is an exciting time, and we're sure you're filled with questions. This page will give you an idea of what to expect when you come in for your first visit at our Rockwall/Rowlett office. Our team is always eager to meet with new patients at their first visit, and we look forward to welcoming you to the Formby Orthodontics family!

Starting Toward a New Smile

Your first visit is an exciting time, and it'll give us both a chance to get acquainted with each other and the treatment process before starting with braces, Invisalign, or whatever treatment you're receiving. During this one-hour appointment, we'll take all the measurements and information necessary to understand your orthodontic situation, make an initial diagnosis, and talk with you about the treatment options you have going forward. Also we encourage you to fill out the Patient Forms available on our website and submit them prior to your appointment.

At this initial exam, we will take an X-ray and pictures of your teeth, and Dr. Formby will perform a comprehensive orthodontic evaluation. Based on that evaluation, he'll give you an initial diagnosis and talk with you about your possible treatment options.

Your first visit is about getting to know you and your concerns, gathering information to make recommendations if treatment is needed, and answering any questions you may have. During the course of the visit, we'll cover a number of major questions and points, but we always encourage you to ask if you have any questions we don't go over. Some of the main questions we'll address include:

  • Do you have any orthodontic conditions?
  • Can we treat the condition now, or is it better to wait until more development occurs?
  • What treatments could we use to correct the condition?
  • How long will treatment take?
  • What will be the cost of treatment?
  • What financial options are available to you?

While we can often answer these general questions about treatment during the initial examination, we will address specific areas after careful analysis of the diagnostic records. If a separate consultation visit is indicated, we will schedule it at this time.
