Braces-Friendly Comfort Food: Soup’s On

We at Curry Orthodontics know that our patients in Plano TX need good options for delicious and nutritious recipes that work for people in braces. And it is important to have some ideas for meals that are easy to eat right after you have had your braces adjusted! We think soups work well (especially when it’s cold outside) and this recipe is a hearty main dish that is easy and home-style. Try it and let us know what you think!

Stuffed Pepper Soup

  • 1-1½ lbs. lean ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 large bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 29 oz. can of tomatoes (with juice)
  • 1 10 oz. can of tomato soup or sauce
  • 1 14 oz. can of chicken broth
  • 2 cups cooked brown rice (We use Uncle Ben’s natural whole grain brown ready rice which cooks in the microwave in 90 seconds.)
  • 1 T. sugar
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese for topping


1. Brown the ground beef.
2. Add the onion and bell pepper and sauté for 5 to 10 minutes.
3. Add the remaining ingredients except the cheese.
4. Simmer for 40 minutes.
5. Serve with shredded cheese on top.
6. Enjoy!
